MARK G. MORELOCK, PE
Principal Associate/Director of Engineering & Planning, Maryland Office
Mr. Morelock has over 25 years of experience in land development, and has served as Engineer-of-Record, and Principal-in-Charge for over 250 land development projects across the East Coast. His degree in Civil Engineering, coupled with a Masters of Architecture, uniquely qualifies him to not only provide the technical experience necessary to develop a project from design to permitting, but to also design a project with an eye for aesthetics. Mr. Morelock was originally licensed in 1989 as a professional engineer in Georgia and currently maintains professional engineering licenses for 13 states. As a multi-state licensed professional, Mr. Morelock’s experience includes land development, roadway, traffic and site engineering, permitting, construction inspection, quality assurance, and project administration.
Mr. Morelock is a member of the VIKA management committee, and is the Director of Engineering and Planning for VIKA’s Maryland office. Working with private clients, and government agencies, Mr. Morelock’s considerable experience has provided services including: site feasibility studies; development investigations and evaluations; concept and final site layout designs; site and grading plans; erosion and sediment control plans; storm water management facilities; utility plans and profiles; demolition plans; and, specifications for both commercial and residential land development projects.
With a broad knowledge of site related LEED requirements, resources and processes, Mr. Morelock applies his knowledge to all of the engineering projects he oversees, incorporating VIKA’s dedication to the practice of sustainable design and innovative green strategies and techniques.
Due to his extensive background and knowledge of local jurisdictions, Mr. Morelock is often sought out for expert testimony, and guest lecturer at industry events.
