VIKA recognized with Design Arlington ‘09 Award of Merit for Kettler Capitals Iceplex

February 2010: VIKA was a recipient of the Design Arlington ’09 Award of Merit for our work on The Kettler Capitals Iceplex, a joint venture between the Washington Capitals and Arlington County. VIKA provided surveying, civil engineering, and landscape architecture services for the development of this 5.5 acre site that includes a practice facility, training center, and corporate headquarters for the Washington Capitals - Washington's NHL franchise. Located atop the existing seven-story public parking garage adjacent to the Ballston Common Mall, this 175,000 square foot facility houses two indoor NHL regulation sized ice rinks and accommodates more than a thousand spectators.
