Artspace, in partnership with Montgomery County, is transforming the existing Police Station, built in 1962, into a vibrant artistic community.  Through the adaptive re-use process, the site will contain 68 affordable live/work units, 11 townhomes, 30 studios, and spaces for exhibitions and events.

Artspace has successfully created these models in more than 20 states. This project will fit well into the landscape of the surrounding neighborhood between small restaurants and shops and a tight-knit residential community.  The artists in residence will include all types of creatives including painters, sculptors, dancers, culinarians, musicians, tattoo artists, and hair stylists.

Our services, so far have included planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering, and surveying for the rezoning, Preliminary Plan, Site Plan, and schematic landscape design. Significant tree save measures and the installation of an extensive storm-drain infrastructure in the public-right away will benefit not only this site but also the surrounding properties.  Construction documents for landscape architecture and civil engineering plans are now pending.
