Siena Park is an important revitalization project that occupies a city block on the north side of Columbia Pike between Adams Street and South Wayne Street. It is a mixed-use project adjacent to a 60,000 SF Giant food store. This development includes 32,000 SF of retail space with 188 residential units, 14,000 SF of office space, and a three-story garage.
Major design elements included streetscape design, courtyard amenity spaces with a swimming pool, and a rooftop community area.
Siena Park has 140 units per acre, representing a sizable boost to the County’s smart growth efforts. The project was designed to be fully compliant with Arlington County’s Columbia Pike Form Based Code and consistent with the goals of the Columbia Pike Initiative. The building includes retail spaces and features a pedestrian-oriented streetscape focused on the pedestrian experience:
- Detailed paving design
- Streetscape design
- Multiple opportunities for seating.
VIKA provided landscape architecture, civil engineering, and surveying services. Our landscape architecture services for this project adhered to the Columbia Pike Form Based Code and included:
- Conceptual Landscape Plans (for the County 4.1.2 Administrative Site Plan submission)
- Complete Final Landscape Documents for Project Construction:
- Hardscape layout and detailing
- Grading plan
- Planting plan and details.
In addition, we coordinated with multiple Arlington County agencies and citizen groups.
