The vPoint (previously known as the Views at Clarendon) is an 8-story high-rise, mixed-use, urban infill development located at 1210 North Highland Street, that includes:

  • 116 Multi-family residential units: 46 market-rate units and 70 affordable housing units, of which 12 are supportive housing for very low-income households
  • Underground parking garage
  • Preservation of portions of landmark church and steeple.

VIKA provided planning, surveying, civil engineering, and landscape architecture services for this one-acre redevelopment project that added 116 apartments on top of the existing Clarendon Baptist Church, while retaining the church’s on-site childcare facility, which has been in operation for more than 46 years. The project preserved portions of a landmark church and steeple, while also accommodating a new church sanctuary, a four-story underground parking garage, and affordable housing.

Named a Smart Growth Project by the Washington Smart Growth Alliance, vPoint achieved Silver-LEED certification and was awarded the Virginia Best Housing Development Award at the Governor’s Housing Conference. It was also awarded the 2012 Best Affordable Housing Development by the Governor’s Housing Conference, 2013 Innovation Award by the Housing Association of Non-profit Developers (HAND), and the Urban Land Institute Smart Growth Award.
