VIKA provided surveying, civil engineering, planning and dry utility engineering services related to site design and development of Arlington Mill Community Center and Residences.
The dry utility engineering services included design/engineering services and management of the Arlington County and Dominion Joint Dry Utility Advance Engineering Review process. VIKA’s Project Team provided multiple design concepts to Arlington and was successful in negotiating the removal of one circuit, a switch and the need for a permanent transformer on the park property. We also provided a detailed audit of Dominion Virginia Power’s engineering and identified overcharges in their estimate that otherwise would have been overlooked. To date, the total savings to Arlington County on the Arlington Mill Community Center project is $238,000.
Arlington Mill Community Center (AMCC) won the 2015 DESIGNArlington Award of Excellence for the recreational and service needs it provides for the community while serving as a teaching tool and example of environmentally-responsible civic design.
The Arlington Mill Community and Senior Center and Residences were also awarded the 2015 Urban Land Institute Washington Trends Award for “Excellence in Housing Development” and the judges for the 2013 Best of NAIOP Northern Virginia selected AMCC for an Award of Excellence in the Build To Suit Institutional Facility $20 Million and Above category.
