This project was a major expansion and renovation of the Army Navy Country Club that included a new 100,000-SF clubhouse, surface parking lot, outdoor golf cart storage facility, tennis courts, and associated site utilities.
VIKA provided surveying, planning, civil engineering, and landscape architecture services, working closely with a diverse building committee. The project site is a high point adjacent to the Civil War site of Fort Richardson. Site challenges involved developing a new building while maintaining the existing site and building amenities in operation.
VIKA’s Planning Team coordinated with the Architect, the Club and their Zoning Attorneys to negotiate a Special Use Permit and a Zoning Code Amendment supporting the project design goals.
In addition to the new clubhouse and exterior plaza/dining areas, the project encompassed changes to site circulation and overall facility layout. Landscape architecture services provided included detailed hardscape layout, planting design at the clubhouse and exterior dining areas, detailed grading, and extensive existing tree inventory and preservation plans.
