E.L. Haynes Public Charter School is located in the Petworth neighborhood of Washington, DC. Its new 46,000 SF building, with an extensive green roof, serves 950 students.
VIKA provided surveying and civil engineering services related to another E.L. Haynes Charter School’s High School and Middle Schools.
Our work on the High School included renovation of the exiting building and an addition to the existing Clark Elementary school site located at 4501 Kansas Avenue, NW. VIKA provided surveying and engineering services for the design and construction of a new building with a basement and five levels above ground to accommodate the growing number of students at the school.
This project also included:
- Renovations to a 50,000 SF existing building (formerly Clark Elementary)
- A 19,000 SF addition to house a gymnasium, cafeteria with kitchen, science, art and music classrooms, and administrative offices
The project was designed to achieve LEED Silver Certification
