The design of the park was prepared by the M-NCPPC staff design team. VIKA assisted Hord Coplan Macht Inc. in leading M-NCPPC and the consultant team through the refinement and completion of construction documents.
VIKA’S tasks included assisting M-NCPPC during the bidding process and construction administration. Our engineering construction document preparation included:
- Site Plans
- Storm Drain Plans
- Sediment Control Plans
- Stormwater Management Plans
- Utility Plans.
M-NCPPC staff considered environmental sustainability a high priority for the site. In response, VIKA reduced impervious surfaces through the use of pervious pavers and reinforced turf pavement. We reduced and mitigated existing encroachments into the Stream Valley Buffer through the use of environmental site design elements such as infiltration practices. The VIKA team often adjusted the site’s features to accommodate the preservation of existing trees. Additional improvements included educational signage regarding environmental stewardship.
As the civil support for a multi-disciplined team led by Hord Coplan Macht on an indefinite quantity contract with Montgomery County Parks and Recreation, VIKA has provided comprehensive civil, site and surveying services for a variety of projects.
