University of Maryland, College Park

VIKA has worked at multiple locations across the campus and at university-supported off-campus developments helping the University shape a connected community of academics, research, housing, recreation, and retail and restaurants.

Most recently on campus, VIKA provided subsurface utility engineering, test holes, column line stake out, ground penetrating radar (GPR), and LIDAR scanning in support of construction upgrades under the NextGen Energy Program, which creates a sustainable energy future for the campus. This current, accurate, real-world utility mapping and information has enabled safe site work and reduced construction delays and the potential for operational disruption.

At the new Aviation District, a residential and mixed-use development partnership between the University of Maryland, Terrapin Development Company, Mosaic Development Partners, and 4 Castles, VIKA is providing planning and entitlement, civil engineering, and surveying. The high visibility site will also house university-driven lab, office and research space and provide multi-model connections to the Discovery District and main campus.
