Dry Utility Project Manager

We are seeking a Dry Utility Project Manager who is driven and looking for technical growth in a dynamic workplace. The successful candidate will work on various projects and will be part of a multi-disciplined team that includes civil engineers, surveyors, planners, landscape architects and traffic engineers, all working under the supervision of an experienced licensed professional engineer.
This is an in-office position based at our Tysons, Virginia office.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree or qualifying experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in dry utility engineering.
- Project management experience, including application and plan oversight, and permit procurement.
- Specific knowledge of Arlington County, Fairfax County, VDOT and other Virginia jurisdictions’ utility installation, permitting and utility clearance requirements.
- Specific knowledge of Dominion Energy, NOVEC, Washington Gas, Columbia Gas, Verizon, Cox Communications and Comcast Corporation specifications and development processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with acute attention to detail.
- Strong scheduling and time management skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects with multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches to overcome routine project challenges.
- Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D 2022.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products (MS Project, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook).
- Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and standard practices.
- Ability to independently represent the Company at project meetings and industry events.
- Understanding of the design, permitting, bid, building project life cycle.
- Ability and willingness to adhere to Federal, State, Local and company safety regulations and policies.
- Ability and willingness to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time (for example, lifting, entering/exiting manhole covers, climbing ladders and scaffolding, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pulling/pushing, standing, walking, and squatting).
- Ability and willingness to travel to various Company locations and work sites.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime, holidays and weekends as required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must pass the Criminal History Background Check which consists of a 7-year criminal record for felony convictions.

Primary Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of Dry Utility plan preparation and permit procurement including preparing specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, cost estimates, and budgets associated with the planning, design, permitting, and construction of dry utility systems primarily within Arlington County, Fairfax County and surrounding jurisdictions.
- Prepare conceptual DUE layout plans of dry utility systems to support entitlement plans for Mixed-Use, Multi-Family, Office and Hospitality projects.
- Prepare final DUE construction documents. Construction documents include horizontal layout, vertical design (profiles), duct bank configuration details, manhole blowout details, and secondary electric design from transformers to service terminations.
- Coordination with the various utility companies to determine the source and service termination points for electric, telecommunication and gas facilities.
- External communication with the various utility providers to confirm design requirements and address comments on submitted plans.
- Produce easement overlay exhibits to illustrate utility conflicts with proposed site layouts and proposed building locations for planning purposes.
- Produce horizontal and vertical CAD design of electric, gas and telecommunication distribution systems.
- Research existing survey information and utility company records.
- Coordinate service application documents with clients and initiate work requests with utility providers.
- Identify utility conflicts and prepare test hole plans for right-of-way permit applications.
- Coordinate dry utility design with civil site plans and architectural construction documents.
- Coordinate with the Client and internal team to schedule and prioritize deliverables.
