Project Landscape Designer

We are seeking an experienced Project Landscape Designer who is creative, driven and takes pride in technical precision and production quality. The successful candidate will work on a variety of land development projects as part of a multi-disciplined design team that includes civil engineers, planners, and landscape architects. Working closely with Senior staff in these (and other) disciplines, you will help lead CADD production efforts in the Landscape Architecture Department and play a key role in translating preliminary design concepts into accurate, high-quality entitlement and construction documents. This is an in-office position based at our Tyson, Virginia office.

We are seeking an experienced Project Landscape Designer who is creative, driven and takes pride in technical precision and production quality. The successful candidate will work on a variety of land development projects as part of a multi-disciplined design team that includes civil engineers, planners, and landscape architects. This is an in-office position based at our Tyson, Virginia office.

What We Hope You Will Bring

  • BA/BS in Landscape Architecture required  
  • 2 – 5 years’ experience
  • Licensed or working towards being licensed in Landscape Architecture
  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD (Civil 3D preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of 3D rendering software typical in the industry (Sketchup, Photoshop, Enscape, InDesign, Rhino, and similar) Technical experience in site design and layout; cross sections; perspective rendering; manipulating aerial and topographic map files; grading; planting design; and preparing entitlement and/or construction documents. Ability to research and analyze local zoning codes, land use regulations, and environmental laws and to apply them to assigned projects.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Your Impact

·        Design Leadership: Work independently on landscape architecture projects while assisting Senior Project Landscape Architects, demonstrating good communication skills and intermediate-level design capabilities.

·        Technical Excellence: Maintain proficiency in AutoCAD/LDD, PhotoShop, and SketchUp while preparing landscape architecture documents for assigned project phases and coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams.

·        Client Relations: Attend client meetings, coordinate efforts with agencies and consultants, and demonstrate intermediate experience in landscape architecture planning and site design including specialized grading and planting expertise.

·        Regulatory Knowledge: Apply intermediate knowledge of local, county, city, town, state, and federal approval processes across one or two jurisdictions while preparing conforming landscape architecture plans.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $75,000 – $85,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors, in accordance with applicable law.
