VIKA Transforming Adjoining Outdated Office Parks into New Unified Neighborhood

Article
The Flint Hill and Redwood Plaza redevelopment will convert three separately owned but bordering office properties into a diverse interconnected residential community in Oakton, VA.

In early December, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the redevelopment application for the third and final parcel of three adjacent office parks, citing how “this development is bringing us safer streets, better connections and a more walkable neighborhood”. Although each underperforming office park – Three Flint Hill, Flint Hill Office Park, and Redwood Plaza – is being developed independently, VIKA has shaped a unified planning approach that links the sites into a contiguous neighborhood through shared trails, streets, open spaces and multi-model transportation options. The diverse mix of 580+ new homes across the Flint Hill and Redwood Plaza redevelopment will respond to Fairfax County’s changing market and housing needs.
