Georgetown University, founded in 1789, is the oldest university in Washington, DC and the oldest Catholic institution of higher education. Its main Hilltop Campus is 104 acres in area and includes fifty-four buildings as well as campus greens and quads, and a cemetery. The new Capitol Campus, located in the heart of DC, has developed out from the original Law Center into a truly urban campus.
Under a contract with Engie Generation North America, VIKA provided comprehensive survey and mapping of site utilities, buried infrastructure, and utility surface features to confirm and update the extent of the existing university utility system at both the Hilltop and Law Center Campuses. This work was coordinated with Engie to update the university’s GIS database to ensure safe and efficient campus maintenance of existing utility systems and provide accurate information about these systems for future new construction projects.
